    1. Facebook's external-facing ads and bidding system is infamously slow and while I think it's bs that Google allegedly gave them time in an exceptional space with exceptional consequences, I bet the reason has more to do with FB incompetence than anything. cnbc.com/amp/2021/01/18/google-denies-claim-of-anticompetitive-agreement-with-facebook.html?__twitter_impression=true

I bet you can find plenty who gave Facebook's Audience Network extra time to return bids because FB's systems were incredibly slow. The problem is that they had leverage in the ecosystem to make that happen. That these types of convos always vaguely imply a quid pro quo.

Maybe that exchange was indeed to reinforce Google's bidding system in exchange for Facebook not having to fix their shit, but also, Facebook's hold on bidders as well as the oddity some noted during FAN's heyday of the bid being higher than expected, all are wild factors.

This, of course, is the real bullshit. That said, I'll lol all the way home if the triggering incident was Facebook's technical incompetence with bidding systems. Chronotope/1351401824935436291/photo/1
