      robleathern reidjjackson austin_rief My point is that the promise of personalization is what defines Facebook against competitors in the marketplace. I'm aware that Facebook does additional work in which it ignores targeting choices in favor of fulfilling success metrics. My issue is how it promises its systems work

    robleathern reidjjackson austin_rief As you note: there's an incorrect conflation between the two. But I would say that in the past Facebook has spent a lot of effort to conflate the two in the eyes of the public and benefited off of that confusion. robleathern/1343566127365042177
