        Digital distribution has basically turned platforms into BBBs as well and now there is competition not just between the products they stock (games in this case) but also between the platforms as they strive to beat each other at gaining consumer affiliation.

      Will Steam do this when they know they are the primary PC platform? Would Sony have done this if it wasn't as competitive a market for their new console?

    It's just very weird to see a company like Sony taking on what is fundamentally a regulatory role here and telling about both the power of platforms and the failings of actual governmental regulators in our every day lives.

      It's easy to imagine an alternate reality where a government with strong consumer regulations and corporate oversight might have taken an interest in this case instead.
