jarroddicker skidder NYT does have a book publishing arm *and* the right to first refusal on employee manuscripts - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Times_Books - I believe recent reporting indicated that they were not interested in publishing many of the books that came up or chose not to come close to offers elsewhere
