Honestly... Jon Stewart should stay retired. I love everything he's done and obviously he has, in retrospect, been one of the great commentators of our era, way ahead of his time in a number of things....
-
but he's a man of the previous media era. I worry his legacy is gonna get torn apart if he tries to make a go again. He was so prescient about the oncoming present we could really play his greatest hits & they stand as effective now as then. I would've just let those stand.
-
And to be honest, his tone and approach with most shows were great for their time... but I'm not sure they work today. I find comedy news increasingly unpalatable because of how much of it discourages getting angry; exceptions being some Sam Bee and all SomeMoreNews
-
Stewart was able to manifest that occasionally, but I can't see him doing it every show, & in today's era that's what I need from a "comedy news show". I also was never that comfortable w/how he disowned his impact by saying he's a comedian. That also isn't going to fly as well

I would love to be proven wrong... but I would really hate to be proven right.
