        1. Every time I read something about or by Andrew Sull*v*n I think about how 90% of the student journalists I encountered in college are no longer journalists b/c the industry made it an un-livable as a career while continuing to poor money into the salaries of old shitty columnists

        *I did not associate with Ivy League people while I was in college, in part because they apparently had no interest in joining any community events, so... take my experience with that grain of salt.

      At some point we have to look at these people who are sitting at the top of the industry, not letting anyone else in, or writing columns about how students shouldn't try to be journalists anymore, & celebrate their departure to personal newsletters b/c they got *all* the chances

    Also I think a lot about how Boomers and Gen Xers both benefited from cultures of mentorship in almost every field and then went on to create corporate cultures that explicitly don't have time to pass on that benefit.
