Basically I don't think it's fair to ask normal citizens to intercede anymore. It requires professional skills and at this point we should prob consider building a non profit specifically for debunking this stuff, b/c that's how much work is involved.

Journalism is the right skill set, but this seems to be reaching memetic-plague levels of concern that require a focused single-minded effort that I'm not sure any current news org is structured to handle.

We wouldn't be asking people to fight fires in their family's houses without training, it's ludicrous to think that we can ask people to go to their families and fight a cult without training. It isn't something we can really expect people to do without a ton of resources.
