        1. Here's my hottest take: Darkseid is DC's worst villain. He's boring, he has an indeterminate power set, he has no personal connection to any of the mainstream heroes, his only motive is 'evil', and all the things that make Superman difficult to write are also true for Darkseid.

At least comics Thanos wanted to kill everyone because he literally had the hots for death. Darkseid wants to kill everyone b/c... *reasons*. Like... name one internal character trait that defines Darkseid? What's his motivation?

And that's by design... he's supposed to be an unknowable remote alien god figure in a universe entirely distinct from standard DC heroics. Trying to place him inside a Justice League story (much less the *first* one in your depiction of the JL) is such an awful idea.

Generally even in the best comic stories featuring Darkseid the best they can build up as a motivation is that he just hates Superman, either for punching him or for being incorruptible, or for somehow stopping him from gaining the antilife equation which he wants for... reasons?

Outside of those the only places where he features interestingly are in entirely New Gods stories & when used right in those stories it isn't as some evil being, it's usually just that he's sort of an uncaring force of destruction to balance the uncaring force of creation.
