benlkeith He helps run a reddit specifically for fans of him. Did he *seek* it initially? Perhaps not. Did he actively cultivate it, interact w/it, make strategic decisions about how to moderate his audience? Did he write w/awareness of his impact and used it to persuade? I think so.

benlkeith There's a careful line of intent vs action; did he set out intended to seek those things? Perhaps not. Did he act in a way that sought those things? Perhaps so. Did he act in a way to leverage and increase those things? Feels like yes.

benlkeith I think actors tend to be a pretty good example of this. They come into things looking to act and perform on a public stage. That does not rise them to the level of public figure automatically.

benlkeith Acting does not automatically make them public figures worthy of coverage of their lives, even if they are thrust into public. But if they *do* leverage that public face for other activities then that may engender additional coverage outside of reviewing their performances.

benlkeith That's the key here, seeking isn't just about intent, it is also about action.
