Ok... I've just watched the first few episodes of The Midnight Gospel and.... what is this and who is it for? Is it for people who like the animation and mute it? Do people run it in the background? Is it supposed to be a satire of podcasts? Is it supposed to be funny or edgy?

As far as I can tell the pitch is "what if it is the worst unscripted bro-y podcast you ever heard, but we scripted it (to sound unscripted) and put trippy animation along with it?"

Was someone jealous of Welcome to Night Vale and figured they could do that but didn't understand anything about Welcome to Night Vale or why it works and thought duplicating the broad format concept with no specifics or consistent characters would work?

As far as I can tell, both this & that new Hulu animated show appear to be made by people who think the improv episodes of R&M combined w/the random irrelevant tangent arcs of Family Guy at its weirdest can come together to some coherent style... but it doesn't work for me.
