ShortFormErnie It sure is shitty that YouTube is also so prudish that it is demonetizing LGBTQ+ folks' videos, but that's their right to do so, and their choice tells you all you need to know about what type of company they are. Choose to build your community somewhere else...

ShortFormErnie The only way to fix this issue is to create more competition for YouTube. If you create market pressure on them it can only be for the best, they'll either need to consider their rules in order to compete or you'll create a more independent and diverse web.

ShortFormErnie I know these are never effective and never happen, but sure feels like an opportunity to do some sort of boycott.

ShortFormErnie I know these are gross general money stats that don't actually represent individuals in the community, but these are the sort of numbers MBAs, marketing and sales people like and use, so speaking on their own terms: you want to make LGBTQ+ people very available to advertise to.

ShortFormErnie Capitalism sucks because these are the games we have to play, but while we're here we should all be thinking about how to play them.
