      - They could detect & block Google numbers. - They could check if host photos are stock images. - They could check if an uploaded photo matches a preexisting property's photo. - They could look for clear patterns in complaints (like plumbing issues reported over multiple visits)

        And other ideas could be applied! Often when dealing with fraud there's some real sticky technical problems to overcome, but in this case Airbnb could have totally applied relatively trivial engineering to make this type of fraud a lot harder!
