          1. I had an enjoyable weird time in music listening last week. (No, I'm not sure why Hip hop is broken out from Hip-hop)

October has been a big discovery month for me, so I'm especially excited to see what the month report will look like.

Also, I'm sad that Last fm has decided to call it Folk Punk instead of Murderfolk, which is obviously the superior term.

Anyway, Every Noise At Once is the coolest tool ever and if you have any interest in getting out of your music comfort zone I highly recommend it and its auto-gen Spotify playlists. everynoise.com/engenremap-folkpunk.html

Also, if you're wondering what the ukulele is, I stumbled into a Gen-Z artists playlist last month and was introduced to mxmtoon, who I highly recommend if you like that sort of music, even though I am an Old in comparison to their normal audience - open.spotify.com/track/2XGKBASAtnQidZcQJdegMt?si=8HyoJVXUTuWVANX5YBZLag

I think my favorite thing about Every Noise At Once is the Mirror feature, where you can see the mirror genre map to the one you are currently looking at. Apparently the mirror of South African Pop is Vintage French Electronic?

Kept up my trend of 16 different genres from last week.

My deep dives into folk punk and Japanese and Ukrainian hip-hop and rap made my listening trends last month pop off the trend lines. And almost a quarter of my listens were to artists I hadn't heard anything by before October. Fun stuff!

Also, the highest new song discovery rate since my exploration of Israeli rock in June!

Started a deep dive into South African pop, indie & rock last week, glad it showed in my charts. Also, listening to folk punk has started to edge my recommendations (and therefore listens) into full Punk territory.

Another interesting week last week! Worth noting that "South African" is, like "French", one of the few instances I've seen where nationality is broken out instead of the overall genre. Enjoyed continuing to explore Afrikaans and Afro Pop.

My favorite discovery from last week was this song by Blood Command, a Norwegian band that Norwegian Wikipedia identifies as "Deathpop" and Lastfm calls "post-hardcore/punk". open.spotify.com/track/5jxfh1iITHYXiqXEsLwvzK?si=QrukhXW0QouYtl4o7Nlmsw

Been pretty crazy so haven't kept up with this thread, but my last week was pretty varied musically! I started my dive into Cumbia and Cumbia Sonidera and dug deeper into Afrikaans Pop while continuing to explore Thai Luk Thung music.

I've been particularly intrigued by Luk Thung & while I'm not sure I can do a great job defining it for you, I've definitely developed some tastes preferring some artists over the other. I think this track is, thus far, my fav: open.spotify.com/track/0XouAm93oemdV607wmzdbg?si=_6J8TyZcQ-6tYiEPzU-ecQ

Unlike a lot of the other genres I've stumbled into, Luk Thung actually has a pretty in-depth Wikipedia page which states it is the result of traditional Thai folk being influenced by western electronic and orchestra instruments. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luk_thung

It seems like it shares some cultural similarities with American country music including that the accent singers use is a specific non-urban accent.

As always, please correct me if I'm getting any of this wrong! Also a fun entry into my playlists from earlier in this month is Slow Moving Clouds, an Irish Folk band. open.spotify.com/track/6aoYuu7qUttmZ9zmHVMrlH?si=81bkTe7kSi6HpKqyigwAyA
