    1. I'm going to bet that Vox buying New York Media makes sense for the same reason Bustle buys media companies, they can fold it in to their existing technical infrastructure and both save a ton of money for NYM and get a large enough traffic cluster to increase their tech discounts

    They can prob do a bunch of cross site recommendations and potentially share first party data as well for additional traffic/CPM. Probably not great news for NYM's engineers' long-term prospects though. :/

      Probably good for everyone else involved though. It's not like Vox is going to turn them into a content farm. Besides which, it provides strong brands names for previously folded in verticals like Racked. And flip side: free big name columnists for Vox's video ambitions.

          I'd also be shocked if we don't see a larger Vox Big Data/ML play on their expanded first party data for driving better targeted ads in the post cookie world. I'm betting on that dropping by end of Q2 2020, at the absolute latest.
