Even if it was that photo, which is still showcasing something imo disqualifying for public office, and that his comedy persona left the asshole dial turned all the way up, it was and is a time when Dems have to be flawless and he was not and would have tilted national discourse.

An enormous essay now is proof enough him remaining in office would have been a huge distraction Dems could not afford. But also: photo was evidence enough he acted inappropriately in the past and would have colored his entire political future. Because: the photo was bad enough
