602Erik adtechtroll Ad tech has created dozens of new terms and acronyms all the time. The industry could have called not-pixels something else when the methodology changed. It's a technical term. We don't call VPAIDs VASTs. There is a distinct technical difference there too.

602Erik adtechtroll When the change helps selling the product, the industry calls it something new even when it sometimes isn't. We keep calling Javascript libraries a pixel because it doesn't scare off sales to ask for them to add extra 'pixels' in the way it might with more accurate terminology.
