kchoudhu There is a big difference in media tho. Competition on the web is asymmetric, which means fraudsters & bad actors can adopt standards and methodologies with more speed and effectiveness than mainstream media orgs. Developing an open standard creates universal rules we will need.

kchoudhu To respond directly to your point, media companies lack the agility to successfully screw everyone else or band together in a way that will prevent the excluded from competing with the same methods.

kchoudhu Unlike banking, media models require a degree of transparency to work b/c they are reliant on interaction w/users on the open web and clear trackable transmission of data to any reader. No method would stay closed or competitive for long. Public rule setting is more advantageous
