  1. Anyway, late Airport people fascinate me because it is a special privilege to enter the domain of the TSA and confidently know that no one is going to treat you as a suspected terrorist. amandamull/1134852105259429889

I recently forgot to wear a suit jacket to a flight for the first time in years and just like everytime through security before I discovered the 'look more respectable' lifehack I got an extra special pat down.

Before the suit trick, I got "randomly selected" for an enhanced security check 8 flights in a row. When I check luggage my luggage always gets a TSA check and slip. This was so constant that, until a few years ago, I thought everyone got them every flight. Just me tho!

One time, running to catch the train back to London from Paris a bunch of French cops at a fold out card table pointed me out of a crowd of running people and yelled at me to step aside for a special check.

I traveled with a friend once who didn't understand my need to arrive very early to the airport and I had to fight him to get there 2 hours before boarding and sure enough I got trouble at the passport desk and we barely made the flight.

Traveled with my so recently and she didn't have a license or passport but had a bunch of extra materials and got through security as fast as I did...

Meanwhile, one time they gave me crap at security and threatened to not let me through because my license had "A J" on it instead of "Aram J" because NY can't fit my last name and first name at the same time for some reason.

When I flew to Israel with the Birthright group El Al security thought I was lying about being Jewish and had me read Hebrew, explain my parents descent and explain my Bar Mitzvah Torah portion.

But look the right way and you can basically drop through the hole the TSA leaves for you I guess.

Good time to remember the TSA's entire modus operandi is profiling and pseudo science and the security theater is pretty much pointless.
