What is hardest to see is how this is all playing to journos. It's like Facebook has militarized itself against the press. All it has learned about amplification, turned against media like it's an enemy, specifically designed to elicit coverage their own platform makes confusing.

I generally try to avoid applying narrative where it is not clear one exists. Incompetence and confusion is common in outwardly competent tech companies, but this sure looks like a purposeful organized single effort. I'm not sure if it is nastier if it is or if it isn't.

There was a time when I spent hours on Facebook every day. Now every minute I spend on the site makes me feel more like a collaborator with something awful.
