AMP is bad. AMP in email is the fking worst and it's so obviously built to appeal to brands who will push for it hard to email providers and ad driven businesses and we'll all be doing AMP for Email, every one of us, by the end of the year.

This is the problem with AMP in the hands of Google. No one else could do this. It's a market deformer. It's a grotesque swinging around of massive power.

We wouldn't need AMP if Google just fixed its own ad server. This is such incredibly manipulative and anti-competitive behavior. I can't even describe an equivalent action. There is no equivalent to this...

It's only possible because Google owns search, and Google owns email, and Google owns a browser, and Google owns a browser rendering engine, and Google owns the biggest ad tech server, and Google owns the ad tech exchange, and Google owns the caching infrastructure.

Not even going to talk to if AMP in email is a betrayal of the implicit contact everyone expects from how email should work. Or if it provides useful functionality. The point is this shouldn't be happening this way. This is a crime in motion and we are forced to move with it.

I don't even know why I bother talking about AMP any more. We all saw this happening and decided to let it happen already and now Google will keep pushing until they dictate everything about how the web is formed and structured. We caved in on this years ago.
