I'll be blunt re: The Correspondent / The_Corres - They should have opened a US office somewhere not a costal city. I think a serious US presence was heavily implied in their announcements & was expected. & it would have been a PR masterstroke if they had put it not in NYC/DC/SF
-
The_Corres That said, I never gave them any money because the involvement of a particular party implied, to me, that the campaign was unreliable in the first place, so I can't really get my ire up.
-
The_Corres Still, it would have been real cool if they had used that money to open an office in Phoenix, Pittsburg, Chicago or Charlotte.
-
The_Corres It didn't even have to be a big one! Have most of your reporters be remote, but have a real footprint here in the US.
-
The_Corres Or make a big selling point of your campaign on day one that you are funding a fleet of remote mobile community-plugged in journalists?! Like, if that was the promise people would have been *all* about this.
-
The_Corres I'll agree on one big point: no national journalism organization really needs a centralized office if it is structured properly for fully remote operation.
