celrae I don't think Ivys produce rich entitled jerks, to be clear, I just think they do a very poor job preparing their students to work in the real world. An education is not training. I've met Ivy journalists, from journalism programs, who can't write a pitch.

celrae That's not saying a rich entitled jerk or a good journalist can't come from anywhere. But the baseline programs at Ivy schools, in my experience, don't do a great job of teaching people how to work, no matter how knowledgeable.

celrae Generally, the best indicator is their involvement with student media, but many Ivys have poor (in quality) student media programs, which I don't understand.

celrae Good people can come from anywhere. But percentage wise, I don't see Ivy Leagues sending their student journalists to conferences, pushing the envelope on their reporting, or breaking new ground on news tech (exception: Columbia on the last). That's a failure of the programs imo.
