FFS. Musk is a moron in a lot of ways but he's definitely an effective business person about 85% of the time. He's not going to walk away from money. Musk especially seems incapable of turning down business. You don't have to bribe him. He works for *you* not the other way around Suntimes/1077026075924934656

I don't understand how we've gotten to this place where states and cities prostrate themselves as client entities to billionaires. It's so dumb and pointless.
-
Either the business needs the state's cooperation (like Musk) and therefore the state has the power. Or, like Amazon, the business is rich beyond the power of the state to have a meaningful effect and you're just embarrassing yourself.
-
In this case especially Musk is so desperate for a win and incapable of getting one without the state, if they let him build his toy transit system, even ten years from now, he'd give in on any demands.
-
Also, his system is stupid and wasteful, pay him to bore his tunnel and then wave him away and fill it with a much more useful train.

The man was crowd funding with flamethrowers. If you waved a check in front of Musk he'd do whatever the hell you want.
