Login on landing in this style is a terrifying pattern to teach users. Web site development have almost universally avoided it because it sets a dangerous example for users to engage in potentially harmful behavior. It prompts to log in without intent or thought.Permalink On twitter.com

Yeah, this doesn't happen on Desktop, only in Mobile, which means it is taking advantage of the fact most users have their accounts synced to their device already to be both sneaky and successful about how this works, looking at the prompt, it look almost like a system alert.Permalink On twitter.com

This shitshow continues to shock me *every time* I log into Medium. It's such an abhorrent interface pattern from a safety and security perspective and by continuing to adopt it as a prominent site they're making the entire web a less safe place.Permalink On twitter.com
