            1. If the parts of Google ever talked to each other, or a top level manager ever charted out a multi-product strategy, the company could actually accomplish something that didn't make the web a much worse place. I don't even know if it is possible, instead it just dives down.

It is completely within Google's major set of corporate imperatives that the web be stable, fast, and easy to monetize without compromising the first two values. But instead of working as a single company they basically all butt heads and drive the internet into the trash heap.

Google shouldn't ever have gotten to the point where it even had that level of power, but that it does and still can't get its shit together to even accomplish a single axis of its well-incentivized values is a pretty searing inditement of modern capitalism.

Like this isn't even at Google's inability to hold on to 'don't be evil' anymore. This is at 'don't be self-sabotaging shit at the things that make you money' levels and with no end in sight.

It's like if a multi-billion dollar dog food company kept accidentally slipping poison in the dog food and failing at Literally It's Job and kept going with not even a hiccup. That's the current state of Google.
