  1. Can we talk about how creepy this ad campaign is? First the ad itself is... really alarming in terms of how it is basically building a marketing campaign out of A. personal suffering and B. basically marketing on top of Me Too.

Second: if you click on it, the ad goes to a fake news site. It is designed to look like a news site and clearly designed--considering the clear white-background ad--to look as if it was *on* the site you clicked from.

That article at http://safepersonalalarm (dot) com/safety/girl.php?affId=CB771A3E&c1=us&c2=girl970x250_comp_f_65&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhZeenueI3gIVBsXACh0I-QNZEAEYASAAEgKcS_D_BwE has multiple quotes from "police" and is sharing a story that seems... off beyond even that.

To make the fake article look more like a real article it is running actual display ads in the sidebar.

Except lol, it isn't. Those are *fake banner ads* to make this *fake news site* look more like a real site.

The dad listed in the article is apparently off to a "Women Against Violence" meeting, where he is a "guest of honor" which doesn't appear to be a thing that actually has meetings but just a resource page by Pallotta_Health ?

The story related in the text of the article seems to not have real people who show up on Google search. Also the company seems... not so great on handling delivery - highya.com/safesound-personal-alarm-reviews

Also the ending soon countdown at the top of http://safepersonalalarm (dot) com/ resets every time you refresh the page and there are regular pop ups saying 'X has just purchased...' which are also clearly false.

This is a notable example of content fraud that has popped up everywhere for me & would be remarkable on just its blatant bullshitery but is extra notable b/c it appears like it is cooking up a bullshit story to make its marketing more effective by riding Me Too, which is nasty.

The bullshit personal safety ad has returned to rip you off just in time for the holidays
