  1. 4 things have happened so far this week that would have taken up a whole week's worth of news cycle pre-2015. It isn't the end of the week yet. More is still to come. Most people will barely remember Monday.

I don't know how we're going to solve this as a problem, because each thing is just more outrageous and worrying than the last, but we only have room for so many major things.

I already forgot we had Monday off because I had to remember that Alex Jones has been creeping into the frame in social media hearings in Congress washingtonpost.com/technology/2018/09/05/facebook-twitter-sandberg-dorsey-congress-tech-hearings/?utm_term=.4aeb287cede6

Like did you even get a chance to finish reading Bob Woodward's interview with Trump? I didn't. What about Trump saying protesting should be illegal? That fell off the front page in what feels like less than 4 hours.

In a pre-2015 world the President of the United States saying that the freedom to assemble should be quashed would be a month of talking head back-and-forths on cable news. I don't know what the solutions to this problem is.

Like, I'm paying less attention to the news than I did in 2015 and I'm pretty sure I'm still way ahead of the average news consumer. I don't know how people like my dad or my grandmother could keep track of *all of this*.

And as the cognitive load increases I find myself pulling back more and more because I've got shit to do other than keeping track of the entire political system falling apart and trying to watch that in real time is taking up brainpower I need for other things.

Like just wtf is going on? Did the AP just accuse the SCOTUS nominee of lying in his testimony? Because that is what it reads like here, no? washingtonpost.com/politics/whitehouse/the-latest-booker-says-gop-hampering-race-questions/2018/09/05/e76e9a98-b171-11e8-8b53-50116768e499_story.html?utm_term=.9600dd4ef68f
