    Facebook hasn't succeeded on live and YouTube hasn't been profitable. But TV made money in its day. A mix of pay to play, live and gated live programming? Custom packages of additional 'channels'?

      Yeah, I think Amazon's video aspirations are not YouTube or Facebook, but to be your cable provider in a wire-cutter world. Makes more sense, who would want to emulate two strategies that led to years of failure?

        Consider the pattern of Amazon's expending holdings and power? It always wants to own A to Z, not just X and Y. Consider its consumer electronics offerings. Consider its hosting and sale of content from YouTube creators for years now.
